# Release cycle

* Stable (final) release cycle length is 4 weeks.
* After 4 weeks an alpha release is created (for example 1.4-alpha).
* Alpha release gets tested and fixed until it reaches a stable state. The stabilisation window is 2 weeks. After the window, the release gets promoted to do *final* (1.4).
* At the same time, a following release development is started (1.5) and the cycle gets repeated.
